Michael Cera as Nick O'Leary

"It kind of evenly tells the story from both mine and Kat's point of view, so guys and girls will equally be able to relate to it, and that's how the book is too," says Michael Cera in an interview with MTV News. "It doesn't cater to one gender."

In one of two new movies Cera is working on (the other being "Year One," along side Jack Black) Cera plays Nick O' Leary - a high school rocker, who meets his on-screen counterpart while trying to avoid his ex-girlfriend. Nick asks Norah (played by Kat Dennings, best known as Catherine Keener's daughter in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin") to be his girlfriend for 5 minutes to avoid his ex, who just walked into his band's show with a new guy.

With one unexpected kiss, their adventure begins. Cera tells MTV News that, "It doesn't tout itself as the be-all-end-all of youth," he said. "Nothing seemed too preposterous in it. It's just a good story of one night going all around Manhattan." In the story, which entirely takes place within less than 24 hours, the two teenagers will explore New York City and "get mad at each other, then fall in love a little bit, then get really mad, then fall in love a little bit more," says Dennings.
